A lot of people chase the mighty dollar without ever taking serious time to put their wants and desires under a microscope.
Not before long, they find themselves in the exact rat race as their online network.
Before they know it, they are neck-deep in a comparison trap that creates sleepiness nights and mornings filled with anxiety.
You log online, and immediately, think your life sucks in comparison to what you see of others.
Entrepreneurs are more hurt than ever on an endless chase of more or not having enough.
I often think about my last breath before I “graduate” to the next form.
Entrepreneur or not, the thing I have found that has yet to go “out of style” is real, raw, human connection.
In fact, I believe in-person connection is more necessary now than ever before.
I knew this back in 2016 when I first started hosting events, but everything now is crystal clear.
When I first start working with people, they are usually trying to escape a mundane life and can’t find their North Star…
OR…they have a clear vision but are missing a few “how do I…” pieces that are missing from their toolkit.
I never set out to teach people how to host events.
In-person events were my ticket OUT of the
ONline world.
My small events were a place for me to feel a little less alone in my own journey.
Small rooms, with less than 10-15 people, where I got to be me…without any judgements, filters, or comparison.
These small rooms have changed my life, and have created radical improvements in the lives of the folks that have chosen to share a part of their journey with me.
I’m beyond blessed to work with the type of people who don’t want to settle for the norm.
As I sit here in Toronto having my coffee with Otis snoring by my side, my friend Lou Chmura is hosting his own retreat, helping dentists looking to improve their lives.
The guy filming the event is Dusty Jenkins - he’s the magician behind my live event videos and more importantly, has taught me so much about what being vulnerable actually means.
The event is taking place at another friends home, Devinn Geeson.
She’s an incredible consultant, but even a better friend.
Dusty messaged me this morning saying
“I’m here because of you”.
But that’s not true.
He’s there because he did the work on himself, has always led by example, who’s cultivated an infectious personality that people would be stupid not to adore.
Aka. he tapped into his unique gifts.
What does all of this feel-good have to do with living life on auto-pilot?
You are one decision, and one room away, from truly living a brand new life.
One idea, one connection, one spark in your thinking is all it takes.
The real experiences and gifts of life can’t happen on Zoom.
And if you can’t find a room that sparks your curiosity, create your own.
One person out there is waiting for you to take a chance on yourself.
And if I was a betting man, I’d say I know who that person is…
